Who we're looking for

We’re looking for someone who can sit at the intersection of Wall Street-level strategic finance and roll-up-your-sleeves accounting execution.

You’ll be the lead point of contact for DayZero’s customers — advising them as a CFO would, while also overseeing (and at times executing) the accounting close process. This means one day you may be modeling growth scenarios with a founder, and the next ensuring the books are closed accurately and on time.

This role is perfect for someone who has:

• Strategic finance experience at a startup, in investment banking, or private equity.
• Managed accounting close processes for small businesses or their portfolio/operating companies.
• The desire to own client relationships end-to-end and build something transformative.

What You’ll Do

Strategic Finance / CFO Advisory

• Deliver FP&A, scenario planning, cash flow forecasts, and KPI dashboards.
• Partner directly with founders on strategic financial decisions.

Accounting Execution & Oversight

• Lead and manage the accounting close process across multiple clients.
• Supervise accountants and bookkeepers, but be ready to step in yourself when needed.
• Ensure timely, accurate financials that flow seamlessly into DayZero’s AI-enabled systems.

Customer Relationship Leadership

• Act as the trusted advisor and main point of contact for all client relationships.
• Ensure client satisfaction and proactively identify opportunities for DayZero to deliver more value (CFO advisory, AP/AR automation, embedded payments, etc.).

Operations & Process Building

• Help refine DayZero’s workflows and drive best-in-class financial operations.
• Work closely with product to shape tools that automate what you do today.

Who You Are

Background:

• 3–7 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, FP&A, or strategic finance at a startup.
• Strong grounding in accounting and experience managing a close process.
• Comfort with both big-picture strategy and detailed execution.
